VC119 ITINERARY

DAY 01 PUNTA ARENAS - PUERTO NATALES
Reception at the airport. Transportation to the town of Puerto Natales (246km, 3 hours). During the trip we will visit the penguin colonies at Otway Gulf.

DAY 02 PUERTO NATALES - EXCURSION PERITO MORENO
Breakfast. We shall set out very early (07:00am) in the morning toward the Argentine border driving across the Patagonian Pampa to Calafate and on to the Perito Moreno Glacier, part of the Continental Icefield. This enormous icefield is more than four kilometers long and the largest glacier in the world which crashes into an inland watermass. All the time gigantic pieces of the ice-walls break off and plunge with a tremendous thunder into the Lago Argentino. On safe well-marked trails you will enjoy various lookout points all around the glacier. Return to Chile in the late afternoon. Arrival in Puerto Natales in the late evening.

DAY 03 PUERTO NATALES - TORRES DEL PAINE
Breakfast. Early start for full day in Torres del Paine National Park. Unique flora and fauna that will leave you impressed. Visit the Milodon Cave and the unforgettable views of the Towers of Paine and Grey Lake with the tremendous blue ice of the Grey Glacier.
Overnight in Hosteria Lago Grey.

DAY 04 TORRES DEL PAINE
Breakfast. Depart either 9:00am or 3:00pm to sail Grey Lake. At the present time this natural marvel of impressive dimensions, which constitutes the end of the Southern Ice Field, can be visited and admired in all its magnitude sailing through the lake on board our vessel Grey II. Weighing anchor from Hosteria Lago Grey and after sailing for 35 minutes among many icebergs, whose shape and colour offer us unique themes for our pictures and video shots, we‘ll approach the glacier‘s front wall which is divided in two by a central island where landing is allowed. Here it is possible to appreciate the infinity of crevasses and risings of the glacier that gets lost in the distance.

DAY 05 TORRES DEL PAINE
Breakfast.. Excursion Mount Ferrier. Duration 4hrs. Difficult Level. Mount Ferrier, located near the hostel, offers an unforgettable trip alternative for those who love hiking. Although its summit is located at a height of 1,559 meters and certain conditions are required for its climbing, at 600 meters we find a wonderful viewing spot. This place is reachable by anyone in moderate physical shape. As the path gains altitude a landscape with plenty of lakes, glaciers and mountains appears so that almost every lake of the park can be seen. This spot also gives us the opportunity to observe, at the same time, the Pingo and Grey glaciers and the impressive peaks of the Paine Mountain Range.

DAY 06 TORRES DEL PAINE
Breakfast. Base of the Paine Towers. Duration 12hrs. Difficult Level. We depart by vehicle from the hostel to reach the Hostel Las Torres in the Laguna Amarga sector, starting point of a highly-demanding hike through the valley of Ascencio River heading for the legendary Torres del Paine. As an option, horses can be rented to take us up to the first half of the way. After crossing dense forests we will arrive to a point from where it is only possible to advance by foot to finally arrive at an interior lagoon whose waters reflect the impressive granite needles of Torres del Paine. Later on we will begin our return to our hotel.

DAY 07 TORRES DEL PAINE - PUERTO NATALES - PUNTA ARENAS
Breakfast. Departure from Serrano River dock. First of all, we take a 20-minute sail on Zodiac boats to land where we have to walk to reach another vessel that sails downriver, arriving to a small pier. Once here, it is possible to take an optional one way 30-minute walk to reach the front of Serrano Glacier. Afterwards, return to the small pier for taking a cutter vessel and returning to Puerto Natales. On the way we will be able to admire Balmaceda Glacier and catch a regular bus from Puerto Natales to Punta Arenas.
Overnight in Punta Arenas.

DAY 08 PUNTA ARENAS
Breakfast. Transfer from the hotel to the airport in Punta Arenas.
